If you’re a cath lab tech who’s been running the same lab with the same cardiologists for years, you already know you’re good at what you do. The question is, are you getting paid what you’re worth? Travel cath lab tech contracts put you in high-demand facilities at pay rates that staff positions can’t touch. And Junxion Med Staffing is built to get you there without the agency headaches.
Junxion was started by a traveling surgical tech who got tired of agencies that overpromise and underdeliver. We don’t do that. We’re a small team that knows procedural specialties inside and out, and cath lab is one of our strongest areas. You’ll work with a recruiter who understands hemodynamics, RCIS credentials, and why call schedules matter to you.

Why Travel as a Cath Lab Tech?
Cath lab techs are in a sweet spot for travel. The skillset is specialized enough that facilities can’t easily fill positions locally, but the demand is broad enough that there are contracts in almost every state. That combination means higher pay, better benefits, and more control over where you work.
Travel also expands your clinical toolkit in ways that staff positions don’t. One facility might lean heavy on diagnostic caths, while the next is running interventional procedures and structural heart cases. You’ll work with different physicians, different monitoring systems, and different lab setups, and every contract makes you a stronger tech. If you’re the kind of person who gets bored doing the same thing every day, travel was made for you.
What Travel Cath Lab Tech Pros Actually Do
Your day in the cath lab is high-stakes and high-focus. You’re scrubbing in for diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs), pacemaker and defibrillator implants, and peripheral vascular procedures. You’re monitoring hemodynamic waveforms, assisting with catheter placement, operating imaging equipment, and managing the sterile field.
As a traveler, the key difference is that you’re doing all of this in a new environment every 13 weeks. Different labs have different equipment, Siemens, Philips, GE, and different documentation systems. The techs who thrive in travel cath lab are the ones who can adapt to a new team’s rhythm fast while maintaining the precision the lab demands. It’s not easy work, but if you can do it, the rewards are worth it.

Why Junxion for Cath Lab Tech Assignments?
The short version: with most agencies and cath lab: they don’t get it. They see “cath lab tech” on a contract and think it’s interchangeable with any other allied position. It’s not. Cath lab work is high-acuity, high-stakes, and requires a recruiter who understands what you actually do in that room.
Junxion’s founder came from the procedural world. That DNA runs through everything we do. When your recruiter talks to a facility about a cath lab tech contract, they’re asking about case volume, imaging equipment, call requirements, and whether you’ll be expected to cover EP cases. The details matter, and we get them right.
We’re also not going to ghost you after placement. Your recruiter is one phone call away, during your assignment, between assignments, whenever you need something. That’s the Junxion difference, and it’s why our travelers keep coming back.

FAQs About Travel Cath Lab Tech Jobs
Do I need RCIS or will ARRT work for cath lab travel?
Both credentials are widely accepted. Some facilities prefer RCIS because it’s cardiac-specific, while others are fine with ARRT(R) as long as you have the cath lab experience to back it up. Having both is ideal, but one strong credential plus solid experience will get you into most contracts. Your Junxion recruiter will know which facilities prefer which credential.
Will I have to take call as a travel cath lab tech?
Usually, yes. Most cath lab contracts include some call requirement, STEMI activations don’t follow a 9-to-5 schedule. The good news is that call pay is typically solid, and we’ll make sure you know the call expectations before you sign anything. Some contracts have lighter call schedules than others, and we can help you find those if call is a dealbreaker.
What imaging systems should I know?
The big three are Siemens, Philips, and GE. If you’ve only worked on one system, don’t worry. Most experienced cath lab techs can transition between them within a few shifts. That said, having experience on at least two of the three makes you more competitive and opens up more contract options. Mention your equipment experience to your recruiter so we can match accordingly.
Can I travel with just diagnostic cath experience or do I need interventional?
You can absolutely travel with diagnostic-only experience, there are contracts for it. But the highest-paying contracts and the busiest labs want techs who can do both diagnostic and interventional. If you’ve got PCI experience, peripheral interventions, and structural heart exposure, you’re going to have the pick of the best contracts available.
How does Junxion compare to the big cath lab staffing agencies?
Simple, we’re not a call center. The big agencies have hundreds of recruiters juggling thousands of travelers, and cath lab techs get lost in the shuffle. At Junxion, you get one dedicated recruiter who knows your specialty, knows your preferences, and answers when you call. We don’t have to be the biggest agency. We just have to be the best one for you. Check out our traveler safety page to see how seriously we take your experience.
