This ultrasound tech skills checklist is the same self-assessment our recruiters use to match travelers with contracts. It takes maybe ten minutes. You rate yourself on the exams and procedures you actually perform, from abdominal scans to Dopplers, and tell us how often you do them. That’s it. No trick questions, no resume keyword bingo.

Here’s why we ask. Junxion was founded by a former traveler, and if you’ve traveled before you already know the pain: a recruiter skims your resume, sees the word ultrasound, and pitches you a contract that expects skills you haven’t touched since school. That first week feels awful, and it’s avoidable.

An honest checklist fixes that. When we know what you scan every day and what you’ve only observed, we can put you in front of facilities where you’ll actually do well. Rate yourself straight, even where the answer is never. That honesty protects you.

What does this ultrasound skills checklist cover?

The checklist below covers general and vascular sonography plus the patient-care basics facilities ask about. You’ll rate yourself across Abdomen/Pelvis work like liver, pancreas, kidneys and aorta, Obstetrics from first trimester scans through fetal biophysical profiles, Breast procedures including cyst aspiration and core biopsy, Dopplers such as carotid and venous studies, and Interventional Procedures like drainage and biopsy. Every item gets two ratings: your proficiency, from Supervise/Teach down to None, and how often you perform it, from Daily – Weekly to Never/Observed Only. If a whole section isn’t your area, mark it N/A and keep moving.

What happens after you hit submit?

A real recruiter reads your checklist. Not a call center, not a scoring bot. We compare your strong areas against the contracts we have open right now and reach out about the ones that genuinely fit. If nothing matches today, we’ll tell you that too, and keep your checklist on file for when the right ultrasound contract opens up.

You’ll also get a copy of your results by email, and your assessment stays valid for one year from the day you complete it. Update it whenever you pick up new skills. A current checklist means faster submissions when a contract you want goes live.

FAQ: Ultrasound Tech Skills Checklist

How much ultrasound experience do I need to travel?

It varies by facility, so we’re not going to pretend there’s one magic number. What actually moves your submission is the checklist itself. When it shows recent, steady reps in the exams a facility cares about, you’re a stronger candidate than a longer resume with no detail behind it. Not sure you’re ready? Fill it out anyway and we’ll be straight with you about where you stand and what to build first.

Should I rate myself lower if I haven't scanned something recently?

Yes, rate what’s true today. The checklist asks two things for every skill: your proficiency and how often you perform it, and both matter to facilities. Marking a skill Intermittent or Never/Observed Only isn’t a penalty. It keeps you out of contracts you’d struggle in and points us toward the ones built around what you scan every day. In our experience, an inflated checklist is how a traveler ends up cancelled, and an honest one is how they end up extended.

How long is my skills checklist good for?

One year from the day you complete it. The form stamps a completion date and an expiration date, and a copy of your results lands in your email so you always have it. Facilities want a current picture of your skills, so if your checklist is coming up on that expiration date, or you’ve added new procedures since you filled it out, take ten minutes and redo it.

Do I have to fill out every section of the checklist?

No, only the areas you actually work in. Sonography is broad, and nobody scans all of it. If Obstetrics or Breast isn’t part of your practice, mark the section N/A and keep moving. What matters is an accurate picture of your day-to-day work, because that’s what we match against open contracts. You can see what’s out there on our jobs board anytime.
